Conversation requires basic skills like listening to the other talkers and not always waiting for your turn to be heard out. People who violate this gold rule are not worth a meal in your own house. And bores? Well, some people are shy, but others are just not interesting (they probably don't get invited to dinner parties very often.) I'm sure the food was worth eating for its quality alone..
