Since I'm not living in my house in town I asked my friend "tom" if he would like to stay there while he finishes his internship. It is O.K. except his girlfriend "mandy" is here all the time also. That wouldn't bother me much except she showers and everything here and i'm footing the (growing larger) bill.

So's the other day I'm hanging around with my friend "joe" and we stop at the house so I can transfer some money on my computer. Joe is upstairs using the bathroom when mandy and tom come home. I introduce tom and joe and it turns out they know each other. When I go to introduce joe and mandy she says " I know joe" and goes into toms room and closes the door.

When Joe came downstairs he was shaking like a leaf. I have no idea what their shared history might be. I DO know this much, If something is bad, you can talk about it. If something is REALLY bad you can't.

Oh well

Mr. Student is all moved out. It will be a little lonely here without him but it is good.

The weekend with Mr. students family went pretty well. They stayed at a hotel and that was good. I only saw them for dinner and for an event I had arranged for them. When they were all here at the house to load his things i noticed his father was very distant. I feel that something happened and he was keeping his mouth shut. When everything was loaded he just got in the van and gave a little wave. Oh well.

I know many of you won't watch another show about "saving" the planet, but I just watched "the eleventh hour"

There were many moments of clarity but one that stood out was a gentleman who talked about how college students could name 1000's of corporate symbols but only identify a few natural icons (like a maple leaf)

It was plenty good.

I don't know how much longer I can double up on all my monthly payments. Buying this farm has fulfilled a long held dream but, enough already, somebody has to buy my house!

It really is more a matter of the taxes and utility payments.

Well, another open house this sat. Wish me luck. I lowered the price 5 grand...do you think that will help.

so the Canadian snow birds were in town for a free airshow over the harbor. It was nice but I was thinking i could drive for the rest of my life on the gas they were wasting.

And speaking of gas, You can all blame me for the high price. About 4 years ago I started saying i wished gas would go to 5 dollars a gallon. I said then and I say now, we won't really respect it or learn to live with less of it until it hurts. It is starting to hurt.

Isn't it funny that the "developed" world wants to try to tell the "undeveloped" world to slow down. Jeeze wiz.....we opened this can of worms.

I would like to thank all of you who took the time to offer advice.I really don't know what I will do. I know in the long run I always end up being true to myself. And I don't think doing that will hurt relationship with Mr. student.

spent the day scraping and painting......so tired

As many of you know I have had a college student living with me this last year. He was unsure he would be able to finish his last year of college because of limited finances. I told him to move in and if he took care of tuition I would take care of the rest. I have never asked anything from him. Just finish school.
Through the last year his parents have visited and we have had a great time. They have always treated me swell and let me know how much they appreciate the help.
Here's the kicker (and you knew there was one) Mr. student informs me last night that through all these visits his father has never figured out that I was gay. Well, this upcoming weekend the whole extended family is coming for a visit. Uncles Aunts the whole shebang. And apparently homophobia is a rampant incurable disease in this family.
I have already set up several, behind the scenes, sort of activities for this gang and now Mr. roomate asks me if i would be able to keep silent long enough to get through this weekend. (should a rampant slew of hate speech occur.) I told him I could, but I have doubts. And I think it's a lot to ask of someone who was good enough to help you the way I have. It's like I'm good enough to make sure your kid can finish college but not good enough to be seen as fit for basic human rights. Mr. Roomate is gone for a few days but I think another talk is in order.

Any helpful advice?
