I was a witness:

I was visiting an old friend the other day.

We were watching a ballgame on t.v. while his wife was preparing dinner.

She was nice enough to bring us a couple of cold drinks.

As she turned to go back to the kitchen, my friend,

who had already had a few cold drinks before I arrived, said to her:

"honey, your ass is getting huge."

She didn't say a word, just walked back to the kitchen.

After a couple of minutes she returned.

Lightening quick, she brought a cast iron skillet from behind her and hit my friend in the head with it,

then turned around quietly and returned to the kitchen.

I helped my friend back to a sitting position on the sofa, offered my apologies for having to leave,

and got the Hell out of there.

You see, I was thinking the same thing about his wife...

and I left before I could find out if she was a mind reader.

... I don't like to read.

I have been an avid reader since I first learned how at age six.

My parents, who were raised during the Great Depression and didn't even get to go to high school,

were veracious readers their whole lives -

and could converse with anyone on practically any subject.

Reading -

it does a mind good.

I posted a birthday greeting for a friend I've known most of my life on social media.

I asked people to send him birthday greetings.

So, guess what happened?

People posted birthday greetings for my friend...

in the comments section of my post.

Really?

How hard would it be to go to that person's page and leave them birthday wishes?

That's like everyone sending birthday cards to my house and expecting me to deliver them for them.

The laziness of some people astounds me sometimes.

I watched an episode of the BBC series 'Inside the Factory' last night.

They were showing how the Brits make pork pie.

It is very popular in England,

so of course I now want to try one.

~

Whether you believe someone died for your sins and then rose from the dead,

or in a magical bunny that delivers colorful eggs and candy,

I hope everyone has a happy, peaceful Ester.

A sign of the greed today...

for the first time ever,

the high school basketball state finals are Pay Per View.

Pitiable.

Me:

It's not about how many times you fall, it's about how many times you get back up.

Officer:

Yeah, that's not how a field sobriety test works.

For a long time as a little boy I wondered how they get the ship in the bottle.

Then I saw one up close and could see the seam of where they glue the two halves of the bottle together around the ship.

The awe then disappeared...

just like it did the day I found out there was no Santa Clause.

Revenge can be bittersweet,

but if you sit back and watch...

Karma can be pure entertainment.
